Special Diagnostic testing
Certain conditions of the eye and visual system require further testing to asses their importance. These tests include Visual Fields, which measures the peripheral vision and can detect conditions such as glaucoma or neurological disease, tests to determine the amount and quality of the tears for conditions such as dry eye, and the Optomap retinal scanner.
The Optomap takes a digital photo of the back of the eye and can reveal retinal problems including macular degeneration and retinal holes or detachments, and systemic diseases such as diabetes, stroke, and high blood pressure.
It also records the optic nerve which can reveal glaucoma and neurological conditions. The Optomap image is a permanent record which allows us to compare any changes in these conditions at future examinations.
